Working Girl

Last week I went on my first film audition and got my first job!  It was for a Japanese pop artist's music video.  She is pretty big in Japan and is named Hitomi (you can find stuff on itunes if your that interested).  It was a lot of fun.  I didn't get to do a whole lot because there were 30 of us but I got paid to just sit around!  We had to wear these horrible swim suits that were bright colors, mine was traffic cone orange!  The concept behind the shoot was this linked tee shirt and a bunch of random blind folded girls dancing in it.  No joke!  I had to even dance underwater (great concept but the positive imagery stops there).  Not only that but get out of the shirt and swim backwards (they'll make it look like I'm swimming forward and get dressed in the shirt).  We went to the beach too and did a few things there, and it was really cold.  I had a lot of fun though!  I figured it was a good way to start :).  I had gotten an offer for a SAG film that was supposed to be American Pie-ish the day before (based entirely off my headshot might I add), but it involved nudity so I turned it down.  Hey, if Jessica Alba can go through her career and keep her clothes on, so can I!  I've been on a few more auditions and have some more tomorrow but the jobs keep coming!  I know if I keep my standards high I'll get rewarded for it eventually.  Until then I'm keeping my clothes ON.

Auditions

This week I had a few interesting experiences.  I auditioned for Tokyo Disneyland Resort, and I'm a proud to say that I didn't get in!  As my teachers say, "Rejection is your friend." and I have come to take that saying to heart.  Disney is very particular about what they want, and if you don't fit the part perfectly you are o-u-t.  Also its very hard to break into their performing jobs because they tend to use the same people over and over again (Disney is notorious for being cheap like that), so I figure there is something else out there for me.  I recently got onto a casting site that can help you submit for auditions, and I get to be on Deal or No Deal on Tuesday!  They were looking for cute girls to sit in the audience and I got hired!  Woo!  I get paid like a hundred bucks per show and all I have to do is look good.
What I really need though is an Agent or Manager.  They can get you good auditions and help you build relationships with Directors, Casting Directors, and Studios.  I'm still trying to get my headshots in order so I can start mailing, but man it is expensive!  You have a 25$ lay out fee, then any retouching is 35$ (Luckily I don't), and then on top of that its like over a hundred dollars to get 100 prints!  Then I have to purchase the post cards which are 55$ for 100, including all of the other fees.  I'm trying to find a less expensive place that will give me a discount.  It is expensive to be an actress.  On top of that I need to get my hair done!  My teachers are hounding us about looking our best because we are the product we're trying to sell, and my re-growth is out of control.  At this rate I'm going to need new headshots soon because my hair is growing so fast!  Phew.  I envy the actors who just got discovered in a mall... lucky son of a guns.

About Me

Hey! So I finally got a blog for my friends and family to read, so then I don't have to continue to tell the same story over and over. This will mostly be about me going on auditions, school, and just life in Hollywood. Which is far from glamorous let me tell you... I probably won't be on very often because in my life not a lot happens, but hopefully something big will (Agent or Job anyone?). So keep checking back every now and then because I'm sure something will happen :)
Talk to you soon!
